Jeff's Autographs and Thoughts

I moved to the Rio Grande Valley 4 years ago this past May. I had collected autographs on and off since I was 7 years old, and with the lack of social life I have here; I've picked it back up again and made many great online friends and picked up quite a few new 'graphs in the process. This blog is meant to both share my successes/failures and if its important, what's on my mind.

Two for Tuesday

Being that I am still recovering from my food poisoning stint and have to still make a presentation tonight at 6pm, I decided to just put these two autograph successes together. Not much energy in me today to do anything more. I got an 8x10 from Wendy Kaufman the Snapple Lady who was kind enough to even include a FREE Snapple coupon and Christina Cox who I first admired as a guest star in the "should have lived longer" TV show "Eyes" signed the photo I sent her. Nice successes. Wish I was more alive today to enjoy them!

The only "Reunion" I want to attend for now

Last year was my 20th year High School reunion which I had no desire to go to. I was picked on profusely in high school and didn't want to go back through all those bad memories, but the TV show "Reunion" caught my eye right away, particularly because the charm of this very talent young lady Alexa Davalos who signed the photo I sent to her. Nice suprise; and for those of you who haven't started watching "Reunion" yet, watch it! Great new show!

The "Rhoda" less traveled

I am usually not the type of person to just follow randomly the crowd, at least not any more. When I was younger I used to always try hard to be the "good boy" and do what others wanted of me, but as I've grown older I've changed that. Rhoda was one of those characters that had her own way of doing things and Valerie Harper, my latest autograph success played her perfectly. Nice addition to my collection!

Mamma "Mia", what a great success

From being the wife of Woody Allen to starring in movies like "Rosemary's Baby", Mia Farrow has always been an interesting character. She stands firm for what she believes in and is just an all around talented woman. I had thought I was going to meet her many years ago but didn't and had held on to this photo which I sent to her care of the play she is doing in New York and she graciously signed it for me!

Nausea!

Food poisoning and the Blair Witch Project movie are two things that definitely bring on that nausea feeling. I got this 8x10 of Joshua Leonard who did a great job of making us think as viewers that what we were watching was real. Glad to have this autograph in my collection. (Could do without the feeling of wanting to hurl though).

I'm a "Survivor"

..at least usually I am. When will I ever learn. Last night after bowling (which we lost all 4 games), I stopped to get a beef fajita at the corner store. The girl behind the counter gave it to me free and warned me that it was no good, but did I listen. I spent the entire night with food poisoning. When will I learn. But on the bright side, I got this 8x10 signed photo from Survivor host Jeff Probst. I've applied to the show several times and in his inscription, he encouraged me to "keep sending tapes" which I will!

Adjourned!

I love to hear that word at the end of work meetings, mainly because I'm much more of a doer, than a sit around and talk about stuff kinda person. But no one says that word better than TV Courtroom Judge Jospeph Wapner who sent me this great 8x10 photo. I used to love watching him when I was younger. Courtroom TV has never been the same!

Life can be so "Twisted"

Every time I think I have my life figured out, in comes a new twist of events that has me totally change my point of view on stuff. I guess even turning 39 in 3 days has its advantages; but as quick as I think I know something, there I go again and get proven wrong. Another surprise in the mail, was this signed picture from "Twisted" star Ashley Judd. Ashley's starred in a whole menagerie of films that I love and easily proves her talent by her versatility. Hopefully, I'll get some signatures from the rest of her talented family real soon! Thanks to my friend Claudia for emailing me this great photo to print. I hope she gets hers back in the mail real soon!

I need some "Potts" and Pans

That would be one good birthday present for me! Mine are so old, and I'm not the best at cleaning them, but I sure did love Angela Lansbury's voice over of Mrs. Potts in the Disney classic Beauty and the Beast, and who could ever forget the sweet sleuth Jessica Fletcher from "Murder She Wrote". I've been wanting Ms. Lansbury's autograph for quite some time and glad to have got this 8x10 photos back signed even though it took a long time. I hope Ms Lansbury has recovered well from her recent surgery!

I feel like I "robb"ed this one

Thanks again to my friend Beth for helping me get this autographed photo of up 'n coming young actress AnnaSophia Robb who played Violet Beauregard in the new version of "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory." Ms Robb was filming the new Hilary Swank film "The Reaping" in Louisiana before Katrina decided to tear through and luckily the request got to her before it was too late. Its a shame all the tragedy from hurricanes in our country these past two years. Hopefully there won't be any more in 2005. Ms Robb did a wonderful job playing Violet the gum smacking, overly competitive brat who turned into a giant blueberry in the new version of Willie Wonka. Even though I liked the older version of the movie better all around, I think all the kids did a spectacular job. Personally, I need to stop being such a gum smacking brat myself. I'm already starting to look like a blueberry. Now, it would totally suck to turn purple as well!

Something about a slut!

I've loved Jane Krakowski ever since she played the sweet, underappreciated, over sexed one night stand queen Elaine on Ally McBeal. I think a lot of people that are lonely seek out comfort through anonymous or easy sex. Elaine (nor myself) are any exception. She just wanted to be noticed (don't we all) and thank you so much to my friend Beth for getting this great picture signed from Jane for me from her stint in Guys and Dolls in England. Boy, wouldn't it be great to get to see that show live. She's not only a great actress but has a voice that can melt you!

Im "buzzing" around

Like the big bumblebee on my bright yellow jeep, I was quite excited to find 11 autographs in my mailbox. Great way to bring the dreariness out of a Monday! When I was a kid, I would see Ms. Buzzi on Laugh-In or guest star on things like the "Sonny and Cher" show and I remember she always made me laugh. There should most definitely be a special place in heaven for those people who can bring smiles to so many! Ruth sent me this great 8x10!

"Liv" like there's no tomorrow...

and that's what I plan to do this week with my 39th birthday..(gasp) coming on Thursday. My bowling team is 8-0 for the season, and we're in first place so hoping to keep that track going. I won $25 in a football pool today; got a call from my friend Beth, to hear she and her family are doing ok after Rita came to town. She still doesn't have water and electric but her and her family are safe. Its amazing the things we take for granted. And I want to make sure to thank Claudia for getting Liv Tyler's address to me and yielding this great autographed photo which I was super surprised to see in the mail. Thanks Claudia! All this stuff, the good and the bad that's happened over the past week has reaffirmed for me to live each day like it may be our last. How we all often take each other, what we have, and the comforts in life we get used to for granted!

I'm no "Angel"

...but my autograph success sure was. What a great surprise to finally get a completed "Charlie's Angels" cast photo. I had previously send this photo out to Jaclyn Smith and Shelley Hack, and yesterday got it back as well as this solo shot from Cheryl Ladd! I was a huge Charlie's Angels fan when I was a kid. I collected the trading cards, we even played our own version of the show with the kids in the neighborhood. However, personally, as much as I'd like to, I don't fit the "angel" mode even though a lot of people think that I do. That's one of my biggest frustrations in life. I've always been the "good boy" so when I do the littlest thing out of character, its so much worse on the way people judge it than others...so to the world...I'm NOT perfect :) Maybe I should start "messing up" more frequently!! Now, if Kate Jackson could ever send me back the two cast photos that I had double signed as well, I'd be a real happy camper!

Dual Personalities

Sometimes I really question whether I have multiple personalities, or maybe we all do. I can be greatly cheerful, like when we won all our games at bowling last night, or that work has been for the most part going pretty well; but sometimes I just get in a foul mood for no reason. That kinda fits with my autograph in the mailbox today. I receieved this 8x10 photo from Brian Patrick Clarke who was the multiple Grant Andrews/Putnam on General Hospital, but my personality for the most part fits his character of Merle "the Pearl" from "Eight is Enough". I'm too often referred to as the "nice" guy. Gotta change that! At least I could be the nice fun guy!

I'm a little bit country...

I go through phases on my musical tastes. As a kid, I didn't listen to very much country music, but after moving to Texas it seemed to be all I'd listen to for quite a while. Now, my tastes have diversified, but still get in the mood for some good twangin' every so often. Today, I got a nice autographed photo from one of the long time chart heros of country music Porter Wagoner. Another great autograph for my collection!

Decisions, Decisions

I went out to my favorite watering hole on SPI last night. Had a great time but unfortunately spent most of today sleeping with stomach cramps; and now pondering doing it all again tonight. I think my problem was eating one of those huge Denny's breakfasts so late, but darn they are good after drinking. So, the decision for today is to go do it again, or stay home...or the curtain or the box....speaking of which, today I received an 8x10 inscribed photo from legendary game show host Monty Hall who also answered my questions about the show. Nice surprise in the mailbox!

A Real Eye Opener

Ahhh...It's Friday. Life is good. I found out my friend's surgery went well. Was really worried on that one and about to go deliver a birthday present, and a long but fruitful work week is over. Survivor started yesterday. It was exciting but not many of the cast stood out. I'll have to steal the line "Premature Evacuation" from Brandon though. That was classic. Looking forward to a relaxing weekend! On the autograph front, I received an 8x10 photo from Natalie Zea who played Trish on the short-lived summer series "Eyes". Some of you may know here from guest starring on "The Shield" or the soap opera "Passions". Natalie did a great job playing Trish; a girl with a great brain, heart of gold and a libido that gets her in trouble...sounds all too familiar! I was real excited to get this photo in the mail, and wished the series made it a bit longer. It had its flaws but the pilot was outstanding as was the cast.

Must Love Dogs

I recently saw the romantic comedy "Must Love Dogs" with Diane Lane, and the best scene in the movie was when she opened her door to a great looking guy who happened to be gay. How many women out there complain about that in every day life. The movie was OK. The premise was cute, but I think the writing could have been a little better. But today, I also received this photo back signed and inscribed from Victor Webster who played the hot gay guy Eric in the movie who was dating the nice fat guy. Its kinda nice to see couples in a movie who arent' always Hot/Hot. They could have done a lot more with that storyline as well. For those of you who haven't seen the movie, you may remember Victor playing Nicholas in "Days of Our Lives" and is currently in the works on two productions: "Primal Scream" and "Rick Hansen: Heart of a Dragon". Another nice edition to my autograph collection!

Vegas isn't the only place for a "Lucky 7"

The third surprise in the mail today came from the lovely Kimberly Williams-Paisley. She sent me two 8x10 photos, a black and white for me, and a color one for my friend Ricardo in Houston, who introduced me to her movie "Lucky Seven". You couldn't help but fall in love with her sweetness in "Father of the Bride" movies, and she's charming as heck in "According to Jim." If you hadn't caught her in the TV movie "Lucky Seven", its available on video and those hopeless romantics out there should definitely check it out! And what a great couple her and hubby Brad Paisley make!

A cure for a WICKED hangover

Struggling to the mailbox, it was a nice surprise to receive this 5x7 color photo signed to me from a man who has great talent to play any role given to him whether it be comedic, dramatic, musical. He will never be forgotten playing Chicken George in the mini-series "Roots". They really need to bring that back again, and he's currently starring on Broadway in "Wicked". Its coming to Texas this fall. Hope he's in the traveling show as well!

General Lee for vacation car?

What a long weekend. I tried desperately to get my house clean. I just can't commit to it full-heartedly for some reason. I guess I want to twitch my nose and have it clean itself. Had a great time Sunday night singing Karaoke and been playing catch up watching Season 1 of "Queer as Folk". I decided to take a day off work today since they took two vacation days from me last paycheck instead of 1. Slept all day and started the long season at bowling. It was nice to see a lot of the folks who didn't bowl in the summer. In the mail came several nice packages. First was....

John Schneider---From "Dukes of Hazzard" to "Smallville", John has had a great and quite versatile career. He's still looking good at his age. What's the secret? Today, I got this great 8x10 photo signed and inscribed from John with the General Lee! What a great surprise!

After traveling a thousand miles...

You probably need a "Hotel" and "Hotel" it was in the mail today. I received a two-banger autograph from long time couple Heidi Bohay and Michael Spound. Its great to see an entertainment last so long these days; and what a great show it was! On a personal note, Thank God its Friday! What a long week. I took a little time yesterday to relax on the couch and just watch some TV. First time I've done that in quite a while. I caught the premier of "Reunion" and it looks like its gonna be a great show; and if you ever need a laugh, I strongly recommended heading out to the movie cinema and catching "The 40 Year Old Virgin". Funny stuff. The only questions for the weekend for me are..when do I get to travel, and how many beers can my body hold?

A Thousand Miles

Boy, do I need a vacation! And with that in mind, my autograph success came from actor Terry Crews who will be starring in this year's "Everybody Hates Chris" and was hysterical in "White Chicks" especially when singing Vanessa Carlton. This autograph brightened this cloudy Rio Grande Valley day for me, and thinking about getting a thousand miles away for some R and R some time soon!

"Rent"s due

What a long week its been for me. Working at the Red Cross is a wonderful, touching experience, but sometimes the emotional energy it takes is excrutiating, and I'm not even out on the front line. Prayers go out to all the people and families hurt by Hurricane Katrina. And kudos to all the wonderful people who are helping out. Let's just hope hurricane season has come and gone for this year. In the mailbox, it was a nice surprise to receive an 8x10 autographed photo to me from Jesse L Martin of "Law and Order" and "Ally McBeal" fame. He will also be coming out in the very near future in the screen version of the Broadway play "Rent". It looks like its going to be a very moving and powerful movie. I can't wait. Hopefully, it doesn't fall into the category of the other two "I can't wait to see" movies of this year so far: "Bewitched" and "Hide and Seek". It was great to get this signed picture of a very talented man!
