The Supportive Mom
Its funny that when you ask people if they watch "Queer as Folk", most likely if the person isn't gay, they're going to say "hell no", but its a show that has a lot of lessons about life, love, friends and compassion, that most people could use. Sherry Miller does a fabulous job playing the suppotive mother character, that as she understands her son, as a human being, not just as a homosexual, their relationship grows, once the fear of the unknown subsides.
